Haiti: U-20 Women Trounce D.R. 4-0 in World Cup Qualifiers

SAN CRISTOBAL, Dominican Republic (defend.ht) - After defeating Jamaica on Friday, the Haitian under-20 Womens National Football Team defeated the Dominican Republic 4-0, Sunday, qualifying for phase 2 of the World Cup 2012 in Uzbekistan Qualifiers.

Le Matin reported from the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristóbal, D.R. where the national women's under twenty years team earned their tickets to the final round of the World Cup Qualifiers.

Yolande Meron tallied for two (2) of Haiti's points and Clorène Rateau (1) and Guthan Anselm (1) accounted for one each.

On Friday January 6th, the group-favorite Reggae Girls of Jamaica took a 1-0 lost at the hands of the Lady Grenadiers.

Haiti remains in first place in the group with Jamaica trailing and out of reach of Haiti. Jamaica defeated the Cayman Islands (2-0).

Group Standings:


Tuesday the 10th the national team will play their last group match against the Cayman Islands and the Dominicans will play the Jamaicans.

Only one team will qualify for the final round.

It should be noted that the United States, Panama, Guatemala, Canada, Mexico and Haiti have already validated their ticket for the final round of the playoffs.

The World Cup will be played in summer 2012 in Uzbekistan.
